(Review of ChaoS by Fuku-San)
Dr. Robotnik has finally been defeated by Sonic the Hedgehog. But now a God of Mobius has turned bad.
His name is Chaos and he is going to destroy the floating island.
Can Sonic destroy one of his worst enemy yet?
Or will he fall flat on his face as he debuts in pherhaps one of the hardest and fastest games he has ever been in?
Well lets find out shall we?
(Graphics)
This is my first Sonic fan game after just recently finding this website.I expected that the old sprites from previous games were used a lot.
The sprites are used from a lot of the previous games.
From Sonic 2 to Sonic the Knuckles.
Belive me I have nothing against this because I like the feel of going back to my childhood, stuck in my bedroom playing Sonic 2.
I belive that the God Chaos has been made by team Chaos themselves.
Which means at least they do try.
Some how though all this still looks like it's a fangame.
Of course it is a fangame but I'd prefer the kind of feeling that Sonic Team went back to the genesis.
6/10
(Sound)
The sound is of course midi and I think that there are some remixes of Sonic music. But this gets to repetitive to quickly.
5/10
(Presentation)
This is where the game really suffers.I don't know if its just my computer.
But this game feels really, really fast!
The first thing I did while playing the game was run into a robot.
I just did not see it coming!
If you do lose your rings then the rings fly out of you and dissappear in less then a second.
You just don't have any time.
I think this is what really put me off.
You get so far and then you just crash into an enemy.
You'll probly see that game over screen more times than you play.
Also try and jump on a platform and you may land on nothing.
Or get suck halfway there so you may have to restart again and again and again!
On the brighter side of things.
(Although I could go on all day about those other problems.)
There is no timer so you can pace yourself.
(If thats possible.)
Also you can use the mighty joy pad.
Hooray!
More of a genesis feel to it.
4/10
(Gameplay)
We are presented with some great cutscenes and I really must say that this is the games shining point! It's great to see a new fan story rather than the old, eggman finds the chaos emeralds and Sonic has to get them back.
Great stuff!
8/10
(Conclusion)
The game itself is very buggy and could use a patch of some sort and the graphics aren't entirely great. It's okay if you have five minutes to spare but you certainly won't be coming back again and again and again.
Sorry team Chaos.
Nice try though!

(Review of ChaoS by TGF Team)
This game is slightly above average, with very nice cutscenes. It's got originality on its side, which always helps a game, and a unique storyline as well.
(Graphics)
The cutscenes are the peak of this game - the graphics in them are very nice, and original.Except for a few typo - errors here and there, they were enjoyable.
Not too short, not too long, and they got the story across.
The text graphics was the basic CnC font, though.
In-game graphics, however, were nothing new.
I didn't bother completing this game, but the level I did play was just Angel Island with a mix of SEGA - created badniks. Nothing special.
The cutscenes save ChaoS, though.
7/10
(Sound)
Once again, the cutscenes are nicer than the game itself. They use original sound and music, although I don't know about mixing Resident Evil music in a Sonic game... In-game, once again, was basic Sonic sounds, from a mix of different games.
6/10
(Presentation)
This is where "a little above average" comes in.The engine was designed OK - I noticed a Spin Move, and nothing else...
Ring Loss was rather buggy and annoying, but at least it's in the game...
6/10
(Gameplay)
Original storyline is really nice to see in fangames, and ChaoS uses just that.As I've mentioned several times already, the cutscenes are really cool.
When you're actually playing, there's nothing special about the presentation, although the levels are more complicated than "hold right," which helps.
8/10
(Conclusion)
All in all, ChaoS is more "eye candy" than an actual game. It's got an interesting and original story, but doesn't show anything special when you're actually playing.
If more work had been done in the actual levels, the game would've scored higher, but it's not bad.
I rank the game

When I first played the demo of this game I was very excited.
The game was more fun than sonic slam 2 because of its more horizontal and less messy level design.
And When I played the full version I liked it even more.
(Graphics)
The graphics in chaos are really great. Davie chose good levels to combine and they turn out very interesting.Especially the way that in the first one your playing through a jungle area and you enter the hidden palace.
There were also nice touches like the houses in the second level and the little sign that says hill town(i think).
The Graphics are definitely a plus.
(Sound)
The midis in the game went with each level. Casino night was casino night music, mystic cave was mystic cave etc.etc. The midi in the game is good but the best part about the sound is the wavs.
You'll hear all kinds of great sounds from sonic games.
The bosses make sound.
I loved the way the first boss had a sound while moving and it went faster when it sped up.
Not to mention great sounds everywhere else.
(Controls)
The controls are the same as in most sonic games. If you press down while running sonic will do his roll attack.
(Gameplay)
Obviously, gameplay is the most important thing in every game. And luckily, this game has great gameplay and a decent amount of replay value.
Chaos has a save feature and the game is saved every time you complete a level.
A great feature since at one time while playing i had to go somewhere and i knew the game would be right where i left off.
The levels are nice and big and there are savepoints in them which really helps avoid frustration and the entire ordeal of throwing the computer against the wall.
That was a big problem in the demo of sonic slam 2.
However the game does have some frustrating things in it.
Namely the bosses.
I found that while fighting the first boss if i hit him from the top sonic would not bounce off and sonic would land on the ground and get hurt.
This got very annoying.
In the hill top level the play area for fighting the boss was way way way too big and i could barely find the boss much less hit him.
(Overall)
While This game does have some problems it is still a very good game that everyone should download.Giving it an A+ would not be right however since it does have problems.
A game should only get an A+ if you can find absolutely nothing wrong.
Otherwise its like missing 2 questions on a test and saying "good enough, one hundred percent".
However it is such a good game it deserves an A.

You know how you're not supposed to remove a cake from an oven before it's completely done? This is the proverbial cake in this case.
This one should still be in the demos section because you're left with a cliffhanger and a blurb for "ChaoS Part 2"...
(Graphics)
Simply perfect.ALL the graphics, with the exception of the lives counter digit were ripped from the various Sonic games (which gives a feel of authenticity),even though some floors had modifications.
The "transition" from Angel Island to Hidden Palace could've been a BIT more graduated, but it was still neat, regardless.
The only thing I could wish for beyond this, though, would be better choices for Badniks for different areas, as it feels weird to encounter the exploding rocks (from Lava Reef) in Mystic Cave, Butterdroids (Mushroom Hill) in Emerald Hill, etc.
(Sounds and Music)
I'll refrain from commenting about the music, as it's what you all have heard before and fits each zone.Sound-wise, however, it's great.
Almost EVERYTHING has a recorded sound effect (from one of the Genesis games, of course), and it just plain works.
(Gameplay)
THIS is where the game suffers from being put out to early. With "real" games, as well as fan-games, you could have all the graphics, sound and other fluff, but the game still sucks without decent gameplay.
While there were a few little neat things that you don't normally see, they're more than compensated for by bugs or oversights that take more fun out than the "extras" put in. First off, there's the cheap deaths caused by getting hit (and losing your rings), which knock you into either the same or a different enemy, and you die before you can even move.
And then there were times I felt I was playing a Mario game, with FAR too many areas requiring precision jumping (when the most you can do to control your jump is slow your horizontal movement) over WAY too much bottomless pit, which isn't really even implemented in all the areas of the game.
In Chapter 6, if you fall, you have to either restart the game, or put the password in to go back to Casino Night.
However, the biggest flaw I found was when fighting the Tunnelbot (Marble Garden's mini-boss).
When I died (which was too easy to do, since ALL the debris could hurt), I was thrown back to re-fight the snowball machine in Hill Top (which was the boss of the chapter BEFORE Mystic Cave...).
At this point, I decided to cheat a bit, putting in the all-too easy password to skip ahead, yet another clue that this game was released before its time.
(Lastability)
If you can put up with these faults, the game is excellent, but the biggest downer is when you get the final cut scene (I won't reveal it) and find yourself facing a screen that says "will [suchandsuch happen]?Find out in: ChaoS: Part 2"....
Overall, I give this game a B- since the fluff and all is there, but gameplay and storyline issues foul that up.
However, when the game and story are complete, I will re-review this, as it appears to be an uncut emerald....

This game is the best of the fan-made games I've downloaded. It's got cool cutcenes to.
It's a must downloaded.
Graphics: Graphics are like the old sonic games which is good because I love old style.
T bad guy's actually do somthing then just run left and right.
9/10
Sound: Sound is good and the music is really good(there remixes of old sounds).
The sound effects are a little quite but it not that hard to hear them.
8/10
Gameplay: The story is really cool and it has cool new monsters.
But the first boss just doesn't fit the level (I haven't gone any farther).
8/10
Presentation: The gameplay is really good and the sparkly pops out when you grab a ring(I love that).
The only thing is Sonic jumps pretty low but that's not that big of a problem.
9/10
Conclusion: This is a really good game to download and I hope there's a sequal.
MY RATING: 9/10

Graphics: If I were to rate the graphics in this game, I would almost be rating Sega because most of the sprites in this game are from Segas original sonic games, and the stuff that's not Sega isn't that great.Sound: Sega...
Gameplay: Ok, not great.
You jump a split second after you hit the key but it's a fangame so it's allowed to be a bit buggy.
Presentation: The presentation in this game is better than the game itself.
The game features good cutscenes which explain the story.
Conclusion: Nothing worth kicking a donkey for.
MY RATING: 5/10
