(Review of Knuckles Racer: Episode 1 by Rlan)
We have seen a few Sonic Racers around the place, Tails Race which is based on a up-down racer, and Tails R A Side Scroller game which you have to beat Sonic/Tails o the finish.Well KE1R takes Tails R to a bigger scale, bringing Knuckles to beat Tails to the finish line, or even sometimes beating the clock to the end, or even collect X amount of emeralds in the time limit.
Much work has been put into this game; All levels are taken straight from an emulator.
What surprises me is that this is he FIRST game made by Click and Create/The Games Factory which allows Climbing!
Sure, Stealth has done this with his Knux demos; Bu no one has been able via TgF/C&C, which is quite a feat.
(Graphics)
Most Backgrounds are taken straight from the emulator, but some levels are completely different, Like Dust Hill Zone (A unreleased Sonic Zone) was most likely taken from few scans we have, and One level is completely Black! Also the cool (yet damn hard) Mission Impossible level has different background.
Now…onto Knux himself, He falls back the same way as Sonic Ultra did, He only has about 2-3 animations for each move, heck, even Tails only has ONE measly little frame in him!
Shame isn’t it, yet it does not have as much impact in the game as SU did.
(Sound)
Well isn’t this a change eh?It doesn’t use the same old boring sonic tunes we all know and like/hate.
We have, to my knowledge; some great MIDI from past movies, the only ones can figure out is Mission Impossible and The Sugarplum fairy song.
It makes a better change from those horrible Overused Sonic Midis which every game has over and over…
Unfortunately This game does not appear to use Sound effects at all!
Which is quite strange….
(Gameplay)
Knuckles moves Smoothly, None of his movement allow for bouncy Camera, which is good. Also Knuckles climbing works well.
Sometimes Knuckles will get suck somewhere, usually on roofs, but it can be dealt with, Also the Flying MI stage works well.
(Lastability)
Seeming that it is a rather hard game will get you stuck into it; good thing there is Unlimited Lives as well. The "special Edition" has extra 2 levels in it, but tends to crash for an unknown reason.
It will last a while
(The Bottom Line)
A great Game with a few little flaws, but nothing so bad you can’t stand it.A Must Download.

(Review of Knuckles Episode One Racer: Special Edition by TGF Team)
A semi-original racing game.A nice effort, but not worth the download.
(Graphics)
Basic Sonic graphics - nothing new here. There are a variety of levels, though, and some levels mix and match graphics fairly well.
Others don't look so great...
The big red sensors where Knuckles could climb should've been invisible, also.
They look ugly just sitting there.
If they were meant to show up, I would've suggested adding some animation or something - a plan red bar is boring, and looks like a mistake.

(Sound)
I don't think there was much of any sound at all, now that I think about it.The music was original, which was nice.
Too many games use Sonic music, and that gets old.
It's nice to hear new music, although not all of it goes with the levels.

(Presentation)
There are good and bad points to the gameplay. The good points are loose, easy controls, climbing up walls (which works nicely, and almost bug-free) and a simplistic style that lets even the youngest beginner player enjoy the game.
The bad points are the character movements.
Both Knuckles and Tails bolt off at full speed, right away..
If the characters were slowed down a bit, the races would last a bit longer.

(Gameplay)
There isn't a story in this game, it's just level after level after level. After you complete the first race, you get a choice as to which race you'd like to run in.
All of the races are fairly short, though, and that ruins the game a bit.
I did a few races, none of which took longer than half a minute to a minute to complete.
6/10
(Conclusion)
Knuckles Episode 1 is a nice try at a racing game, but has many things that could've been improved upon.Download if you're bored, although I'd go after some of the other games first.
I give it this game a
