(Story)
Sonic 2099 includes several features unique to this title, including the Dash Jump attack move, playable vehicle segments, and the ability to play as Super Sonic through a majority of the game.
It was also one of the first TGF Team games to feature an actual save-game system, so players wouldn't need to start over every time they play the game.
While the core game engine will feel dated by today's standards, there's still enjoyment to be had with this title.

(Review of Sonic 2099 by USonic)
This is a horrible history! It doesn't make any sense!
Since when Tails and Knuckles can't fight robotnik???
In this game, Robotnik is ever smaller that Tails!
(Graphics)
Very good! Its a grown up Sonic, I just don't understand why Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are bigger than Robotnik...
The levels are mixed too!
Launch Base Zone whit Sonic 1 enemies...
(Sound)
Nothing new...Just the old sonic midis and sounds...
(Presentation)
This game is really based on touch-happens things, like when you put a invisible block somewhere in your game, and when it collides the character something happen, but its very good! This game is easy to get tired, since u die right in the final of level and have to restart...
It has *ALMOST* a homing attack too, but it doesn't follow enemies...
(Gameplay)
Wow! Its very good!Inovation, that's the word!
It has a very goo intro, but some things I still don't understand...
There is continue, but it doesn't work!
(Conclusion)
Its a pretty good game, whit good graphics, good gameplay...I recommend it!
Nobody really pay attention at the history...
Then its good!
RATING - 9/10
(Review of Sonic 2099 by SSBM2002)
The game is like an advancement of the classics and, my opinion, looks better than GBA''s Sonic Advance. It's a great game I've played months ago and it's still the best fangame I've ever played.
(Graphics)
The graphics is just UNEXPLAINABLE.It just looks beautiful to me.
Sonic; the background; the levels; the bosses; unbelievable.
Rating: 13/10
(Sound)
The sound and music is great and crystal clear. The sound when Sonic dies to the great music, the sound is great.
Rating: 11/10
(Presentation)
What the h*$$ was he thinking? This is really when the game really shines.
Sonic goes swinging, becomes Super Sonic, goes snowboarding, goes water/jetskiing(?), and much, much more.
This is unbelievable and it's only going to get better and better each game he makes.
Ratings: 18/10
(Gameplay)
It's very polished and not rushed-looking.It looks like he took his time making it just right.
There are a few glitches here and there, but it's noticeable.
There's also one thing he fix later in Version 2 of the game, no save feature.
Rating: 9.4/10
(Conclusion)
The game is just unbelievable!!!!!It's just beautiful and you can he work his a** off and made it just as perfext as it could be.
I can't wait to SQTE3.
My overall rating is 21/10, but the site rating would be:
RATING 10/10
(Review of Sonic 2099 by Thomas Swift "Swifthom")
(Graphics)
Sonic is exactly like a SA2 Sonic when watched side on.Well, close enough.
He's magnificent.
Flash is a white Sonic and looks very good.
Tails is very good and Knuckle's Chaotix sprite isn't as bad as it could of been.
Eggman looks a treat and the backgrounds are from a superb mix of games.
(Sound)
Mostly perfect. One level though, Emerald Valley, which, plays Sonic's theme tune which seemed a bit mucked up on my PC.
Apart from that the Musuc is a +.
The samples work well.
Those you do here are at the right time and place.
(Presentation)
Probably the best aspect.Sonic is fast enough, he jumps high enough.
Also a semi working Double jump adds to the SA/SA2 feel of the game.
The gameplay actually feels more realistic than most Sonic Genesis games ever used to.
There are small bit'sin some level where you use vehicles to transport you across the level while collecting rings.
They are very good.
Also I heard a hint of actually playing as Super Sonic out of the final level, but I never managed it.
How do you do it????????
(Gameplay)
What can I say about the presentation. The introduction sets the story perfectly.
The movies are short and sweet. P.S...Also at the end of the game it explained to me why the another TGF game was entitled the Dead Zone.
"EGGMAN IS DEAD!!!!!" how come I didn't realise it sooner.
Just one question.
How did Eggman come back to life?
(Conclusion)
A good game. No, a masterpeice.TGF has shown his true colours again and I hope he doesn't fly away until SQTE3 is finished, or hopefully another game after that.

(Review of Sonic 2099 by Team Virus)
Sonic 2099?Some would think its another "Make a cool name with numbers game" but dont judge a book by its cover...... >_<;
Lets just get on with this truly cool game Sonic 2099
(Graphics)
Graphics-r-us!They rule!
you only have to look at the first level to know how cool TGF has made the graphics, the really cool SA2 Showoffboy sprite is used here too, Very nice , Eggman by N8 Dawg, which is probaly my favourite eggman sprite, Tails is fairly good, but the Knux sprite... ::screams:: Graphics get a cha cha
9/10
(Sound)
MUSIC HEAVEN!The MIDI fits every signle level, the title and intro are nicely done thanks to the music, Great Forest MIDI used for the 1st level, which I hate coz this MIDI is over used to much But everything else is excellent, the sound has the basics, jump and rings and etc, sound
9/10
(Presentation)
The storyline, Eggman has kidnapped Knux & Tails, pretty basic, not with the ectra part including Flash the white hedgehog, an interesting story, quite original, presentation9/10
(Gameplay)
EXCELLLENT!Home attack and grinding highlight this game into the heavens, the levels are long, each has its own vechile which makes the game more fun, and also includes Super Sonic, home attack is a little buggy, as if sonic misses his target and goes further, he ends up stuck in a wall, DOH!
9/10
(Conclusion)
A truly interesting and fun game, nice graphics and backgrounds, magnifecent sound and gameplay, nice storyline, TGF WELL DONE!!!::Gives out the highest rating he ever has:: ¬.¬;

(Review of Sonic 2099 by Sonic360)
TGF Team makes yet another gameTGF Team (which is surprisingly comprised of just one guy) is renowned for making good, solid enjoyable games.
In fact, he's made so many I've actually lost count.
Now, you'd probably think Sonic 2099 was just another one of TGF team's games, with nothing really new or really innovative.
However, this time round you'd be gladly mistaken.
Sonic 2099 is his latest project, meaning logically it should be much more advanced in comparison to his other games.
This is exactly what I was thinking when I started to play the game, and fortunately I was not disappointed.
Lets talk about Graphics
At first glance the majority of the zones look entirely new.
Although a couple of the zones (Sky Sanctuary and Ice Cap in particular) are just straight out of the pack old zones the rest of the levels have been remixed to death in an attempt to give you something fresh and new.
I was very surprised at how well this worked and at how much detail and individual depth had gone into each and every remixed level.
TGF Team has really taken remixing to a whole new level but not just using standard background and foreground objects of the same or similar colour scheme.
Instead, other objects have been used which you wouldn't expect to be in your average level.
An example of this, would be on Eggmans Base.
As I made my way through the level I noticed that a partial section of the level actually shows mass production of Eggmans robots.
I won't go into detail on this as I do not want to give any of the graphical surprises away.
But its parts like these that really show you how much effort has gone into designing each level.
Run, jump, bash, run, jump, perform death defying bungee stunt
Within the first few minutes of playing Sonic 2099
I honestly didn't think it offered anything new in terms of gameplay.
Sure, all the standard moves are there but I was really hoping something innovative would popup...something I hadn't seen before.
Funnily enough, this is exactly what happened.
There are certain instances in the game that you simply marvel at how well path movement effects have been utilised.
Each level features its own various stunts, action seqeunces and basically, parts where the game comes out of its standard platformer shell to give you something new.
Whether its riding on a jet powered board at mach 3, or riding across snow in a snow cart bashing badniks and walls on the way you can be sure something you've never seen before will take you through the level in a very different manner than previous fan games have created.
One other part of the game which I thoroughly enjoyed was being able to turn into Super Sonic upon collecting 50 rings.
Sure, it may not be original, but the way it is carryed out is surprisingly unique.
When you have the sufficient number of rings, you are able to instantly to into into Super form.
This increases your speed and makes you invulnerable until your rings are depleted.
But what really impresses is the way you are actually able to bash through walls and anything else that looks remotely breakable.
It actually has....a storyline?!
A rare occurance in fan games today is a lengthy and gripping storyline.
Sonic 2099 features just that and there are even moments of suspense and wonder as the story progresses through each drawn out cut scene.
In the Sonic 2099 demo, the Death Egg exploded with Eggman, Tails and Knuckles still inside.
During the game, there are so many plot twists and turns which happen you'll be guessing until the end whether they are still alive, and in particular who or what is causing all of the events that have occured.
Nothing is perfect
With all fan games, there are some obvious flaws which persist throughout the game.
Firstly, you'll notice the standard getting stuck in walls syndrome.
As I have stated before this is something the creator can't really do anything to prevent as it is in most cases caused by the game creation program.
Despite this, it is still flaw and should be noted nonetheless.
Secondly, the well-known but very annoying stopdead is featured in the game.
At first I was puzzled to why TGF Team left it in, but as you'll see throughout the game, there is good reason to not make use of the MMF feature.
However, he has assured me that it will not be in the next release.
Lastly, the homing attack, although functional most of the time is not entirely perfect.
There are some parts of the game where you'll see a badnik attempt a homing attack and miss it completely.
This problem seems to only occur when a badnik is very close range so it is avoidable.
The final verdict Graphics - 9.5
The remixing of different levels has been done very well in this game and there is a strong, solid feel throughout.
Gameplay - 9.0
Although the homing attack isn't as fine tuned as it could be, the gameplay has been astonishingly well put together to give you a fun and enjoyable experience.
Sound - 8.5 Well suited Sonic tracks persist throughout the game with the slight hint of an SA2 theme being utilised.
As usual, all the classic sound effects are there.
Lifespan - 9.0
The game itself takes quite a while to complete.
The storyline will keep you guessing until the end and the levels have been so well designed you can't help just coming back again and again.
Overall Sfghq grade - A / Sfghq Score - 9
Final comment - Sonic 2099 features a gripping plot, breathtaking level design and challenging gameplay which will keep you coming back for a long time to come.
(Review of Sonic 2099 by Sonique Hedgehog)
I LOVE being the underdog. The odd man out.
The one who goes against what everyone says.
I don't do it on purpose.
I swear I was going to review this game before I saw the other reviews; they didn't change my mind one bit.
(Graphics)
By now I'm used to ShowoffBoy's sprites being in just about every fan game out there. They are nothing out of the ordinary, but what I DO like is the build of levels such as Metropolis and Hidden Palace together, and it's not corny at all.
You'd think those two don’t' fit together, but somehow they made that, and several other levels work together.
Very creative
(Sound)
Nothing to write home about.Usual Sonic game sound, except when Sonic gets hit when he has a shield the game buzzes at you. I don't quite get why that is, but whatever. Appropriate MIDIs are used for each level, but the quality of a few MIDIs is a tad less than what I would expect.
(Presentation)
Have you ever been playing a game and you know you're near the end, and the power goes out? Or the game crashes?Or you've gotten farther than you ever have in SA, and the game didn't save and you don't want to sit through all those cut scenes again and again and again?
How about this one?
You're near the end, and you jump over an obstacle an get stuck in the middle of the ceiling and spend 2 minutes trying to get Sonic unstuck but it ain't gonna happen.
Standard CnC movement ruined this game for me.
Yes, yes, Sonic skids and springs, bungee jumps, and gets in other various vehicles, but that's not gonna make me think any more of this game when THERE IS STOP DEAD!
Stop dead will ruin any fan game, at least for me and I know others hate it as well. the only reason I put up with this game for more than I normally would when I found out there was stop dead, was because of the 10/10 reviews it was getting.
There is some good, the CnC engine was mutated into an almost static one.
Sonic does skid well, and jumps higher than CnC would allow, and there is also a very well done homing attack.
there is also grinding, but it's pretty stupid, because it's a path movement Sonic.
You can't jump while you grind and you don't have to press anything to grind.
I'd rather play the game then sit back and watch it play itself.
If you don't hit the grind button, or land in the middle of the rail, you fall through and most likely die.
Apparently you can play as Super Sonic also.
I never got this far, I was stuck in the ceiling, most people say it was good and fun.
However most people who rated this also didn't mind the CnC movement as much as I do, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt about the Super Sonic part
(Gameplay)
It's put together well, is that what you mean?Nice title screen, cool effects, and easy to read and understand cut scenes.
Accept when Sonic does his waiting animation while he's talking to Flash or whoever.
Also, Tails is twice the size of Knuckles and Eggman, Knuckles is from Chaotix and Tails is from... well not sure.
But it looks very uneven and unprofessional together, but otherwise, very smooth.
(Conclusion)
The game would be great if they'd use a static movement which I know they've accomplished, so they should put it in this game too.Like I said, I'm the odd one out, most people rated this game 10/10, and I guess most people like to have stop dead, lousy grinding techniques and getting stuck in walls. Me, I don't like that.
And until this game gets it's own engine:
RATING - 5/10
(Review of Sonic 2099 by Xtreme Chaos)
Well, I read the reviews on Sonic 2099.A "masterpiece" and 10 out of 10 they said. But after playing, calling it a masterpiece is like calling Osama Bin Laden the sexiest man alive.
Let's open the can and take a closer look.
(Graphics)
Just try to imagine the next Sonic Adventure with these graphics--S3&K; Backgrounds, Sonic's sprite is from Jet Set Radio, Tails is regular SA, Knux is Parappa the Rapper, and Eggman is from Lemmings. That's what Sonic 2099 looks like.
Although it does use some interesting mixes on backgrounds, such as Launch Base, City Escape, and Flying Battery, and mixes them well, I personally cannot stand S3&K; graphics any more.
With the sprites, Sonic 2099 has a weird problem.
It also can't seem to have any sprites from the same source.
Sonic is from Showoffboy, Knux is from Chaotix, Eggman is really small, and Tails looks edited.
Eww.
(Sound)
The music in this game usually fits pretty well, actually. One or two levels may be off tune, but besides that nothing really bad.
The sound effects fit well, except for the fact that they're about 50 decibels louder than Ozzfest.
Yes, I know Sonic has a powerful jump, but it needn't be accompanied by "WWOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!"
I realize that fangames have been using the "classic" jump sound for years, but good lord is it annoying.
(Presentation)
Yay, fades.AND blinking objects.
It's better than average, though, because the colors work well and there's a neat little picture of Sonic with a swirly thing behind him.
What really gets to me though, is that TGF put fake loading times inbetween levels, just to make them seem long, or, something.
(Gameplay)
I can see that Jamie Bailey gave TGF the Sonic Time Attacked engine! But too bad TGF didn't use it, as it would have really crapped all over his own engine.
Hey, I love CnC platform movement as much as the next guy, I just don't like when people try to add "1337" effects, such as a "Homing attack" (which, surprisingly enough, actually doesn't home in on enemies) that gets you stuck in the wall every four seconds, and *shudders* path movement...
Although, I'll admit, the path movement is done surprisingly well, but it isn't really the same as actually playing the game.
Now, on to level design.
The first level involves--get this-- running AND jumping.
The second level involves pure GUESSING, actually.
Maybe it's just the engine that ruins the levels, but I will say that level design could be way better.
And the one thing that really bugs me is that the savegame feature doesn't work.
So if you get stuck in the wall on any level, you're out of luck, buddy.
(Conclusion)
There is no way you can give a game like this 10 out of 10 without either being drunk or getting paid by TGF. Unoriginal graphics, loud sounds, bad engine, and poor level design really hinder this game. The only saving points are the music and the presentation. And no, Osama got elimianted in the second round.

(Review of Sonic 2099 by Matty Hedgehog)
This was one of the very first new SA themed games I downloaded. So what do I think of this fan game that I downloaded? Oh and before I go on those newbies around here may want to that TGF team is actually one guy on his own so how did he do?
Like I said read on.
(Graphics)
Sonic's sprite is the...Showoffboy sprite!!!
This has been used a bit (not as much as Rabidknux's though) and has some cool animation as this sprite was mouse drawn.
Tails is done by Diablohead or rather an edited SV 2 sprite to look like Tails but looks horrbile compared to Sonic!
Knuckles is Chaotix sprite but doesn't move much.
Robotnik (Eggman) looks strange indeed I don't know who did him.
The usual graphics are here from Genesis with Launch Base Zone and Sky Sanctuary.
(Sound)
OWWWW!!!MY EARS HURT!!!!
This is what you'll hear when you hear the Green Forest Zone music turned into a rock concert!!!
Luckily most of the other music is quieter.
The sound from Sonic Adventure is good so long as Sonic isn't skidding the screech could hurt you eardrum as he does so.
(Presentation
The transition between frames could be worked on as it seems too slow for our blue hero. The CNC engine suffers from the old stuck in a wall syndrome and grinding also suffers too.
(Gameplay)
GRINDING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!to control with the keys.
so computer does which spoils the game!!!!
Sonic's homing attack is also buggy which could send you down a pit to you losing a life.
Also some cool bits are only there to keep you playing the game.
(Conclusion)
I should be happy but I'm not.The major let down is the grinding and the Green Forest rock concert.
The buggy homing attack that TGF should master for a new game.
Final score - 6/10
RATING - 6/10
(Review of Sonic 2099 by Gotenks Hedgehog)
My second review for a game I personally like a lot, although there's quite a few glitches, I think it's worth it.Read on to find out why.
(Graphics)
The graphics are fairly well done - Showoffboy's Sonic sprite fits in well, so does the Tails and Robotnik.Although the Chaotix Knux sprite looks terrible standing next to them!!
What was TGF thinking?
The levels are nothing less than wonderful, the graphics are mixed PERFECTLY.
(Sound)
The music, in my opinion, is fine.It fits each level, except that one level with Sonic's theme gets irritating...very irritating.
The explosions sound like some giant bug being crushed.
o.o
(Presentation)
Aaah, here's a shining part of the game. The opening cinema scene is pretty well made, and the title screen is amazing.
I've always admired the title screen, wishing I could make one like it.
(Gameplay)
Oi, platform movement = stopdead.Static engines exist, people, and they can be your friend!
Anyways...the level's are long and fun, even with the occasional trick path which adds an extra challenge.
The ability to turn into Super Sonic was a good addition, although he moved WAY too fast.
The homing attack is a bit buggy, you're better off just jumping at an enemy than trying to home in on it.
But one GIANT, big fat annoying glitch is the save system.
IT DOESN'T WORK!!
(Conclusion)
Overall, I like the game.Although the numerous glitches get on your nerves, it's really fun.
Worth your download.
