Sonic 2K6 2D was created by me, Ryan Bloom, better known to the internet by the handle "BlazeHedgehog".
There's a thing when the game boots up for the first time about why this was made, but in short, I wanted a quick game project I could start and finish in a week and began adding more and more stuff to it on and off over the course of six months.
As I was nearing completion on the third and final version of the game, I had a bit of computer trouble and lost access to the game's files for nearly four years.
Finally regaining access to them again sometime in early 2011, I finished up some of the rougher bits and decided to release an 85% complete version of the game, which is what you're seeing here.
It's not quite everything I wanted it to be, and there may be one or two nasty bugs left in it yet, but working with a four year old codebase that I didn't organize very well is extremely difficult, so this is the best you're going to get.
If you want a more detailed account as to WHY I did this, simply read the dumb wall of text at the start of the game.
If you were a jerk and skipped that opening wall of text, just hit "Reset to Defaults" in game settings and it'll show up again next time you launch the game.
