(Story)
Sonic and his latest nemesis, Shadow, go head-to-head in this fight for the finish.
While Sonic Dead-Zone is running on an obsolete game engine when compared to 2099 or SX, the game does feature a few items that make this title shine.
It's the only game in the TGF Team saga that features multiplayer, albeit through a short mini-game, and also lets players pick their favorite character to play, each with their own unique storyline.

(Review of Sonic Dead-Zone by Hobbuzu17)
Ah, yes, Sonic Dead-Zone.This is one of the best fangames I've ever played.
I can't put the greatness of this game into words- wait, yes I can.
Here we go...
This is after Eggman has died by Sonic's hands(After surviving the explosion of the Death Egg, I wouldn't think a hedgehog would kill me!)
You can be either be Sonic or Shadow, in a quest to kill the other.
Now with the rest.
(Graphics)
I'm sure the graphics for Sonic and Shadow are fanmade, but they are SO COOL!During the intro, When you see Sonic running...
It is the most accurate drawing I've seen yet!
And Shadow...
Dang.
It makes me overlook the fact that the enemies are mainly recycled sprites from Sonic 3 and Knuckles that move around and don't fire at all!
Oh well.
It makes the game easier, but more on that later.
(Sound)
I haven't bought the game yet, but I'm sure all of the sound comes from Sonic Adventure 2.It's pretty good, in other words.
I'm the kinda person that gets ANY song in my head, so I'm not reliable on this matter.
(Presentation)
Let's start with what's wrong.2-player mode: You collect rings.
Your opponent collects rings. You just need to collect the most rings.
It doesn't matter who reaches the flag first, as long as you have the most rings.
There's no way to knock rings out of your opponent.
THAT SUCKS!
1-player mode: %#@&$*!
THIS IS HARD, EVEN IN NORMAL DIFFICULTY!!!
OK, I made it to the final boss as Sonic(can't hurt the son of a b****, though!), but I can't get past the first level as Shadow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, it's a good challenge, and great fun to play!
(Gameplay)
This is presented in a fresh way. This is... uh... Dammit!
I'm just gonna skip this section!
(Conclusion)
I wanted to give this a 10, but I can't forgive those small flaws.Sorry!
P.S. Wanna get some passwords?
Well, I'd love to, but its a bit freezy in here, so I'm gonna leave.
I'll take it to the skies as Super Sonic, destroying the evils of this netcom- I mean Internet-while eating eggz, but I still can't turn into a hedehog!
argh!

(Review of Sonic Dead-Zone by Thomas Swift "Swifthom")
What a title. Its original and yet, as far as I can tell, has nothing to do with the actual game.Um.
Quick story in the intro, (Long story,) and then to the title screen.
(Graphics)
Well.Above adverage.
Sonic and Shadow have undeniabely good sprites.
I prefer Shadow's myself as Sonic's makes him look just a tad pale.
The backgrounds are from Chaotix, Sonic 3 and Knuckles and maybe some other games.
The badniks are also from those 2 games.
A definate plus for Graphics.
(Sound)
Marvelous. The sound is mainly from Sonic Adventure, I think, and I couldn't pick up any music that doesn't go along with the level.
The sound effects dont show that much but are there and are perfectly in match with the game.
Also there is a very limited Sound test option.
A definate plus for Sound.
(Presentation)
Well.The gameplay is good.
it follows the structure of Sonic/Shadows levels in SA2.
The 100 rings a life and giant ring saying Goal was there.
My only problem was the jump, or Sonic's roll.
The roll cut your movement short to quickly and the jumping mechanism can be quirky in tight spots.
The springs work well and the game follows a good route straight through.
Also the level design isnt just a straight left to right, but involves going back and forth up and down.
Also the levels do get harder as you go along.
But none of the levels are a straight walk through.
The Levels in the plane for Sonic, and Death egg for Show however are useless.
The idea, get rings.
Both are difficult and move uselessely.
Also Sonic's boss.
It's...
No I will not spoil this game and put up a walkthrough.
All I shall say is that it is very easy, if you've worked out what to do.
Apart from that, a plus for gameplay.
(Gameplay)
When you start the game you see the story which is well.Um...
Different.
It does however explain how you can play as Shadow or infact how Shadow is there at all.
I thought he was dead?
Also in the options i saw a Easy and Hard option.
But when I played them through I couldn't really notice any differences?
(Conclusion)
A well rounded game, unfortunately a little short. It took me roughly half an hour to complete both characters.
Also the intro story said that Shadow and Sonic were looking for the Power Rings and the Chaos emeralds.
Having what appeared to of finished the game I ask: Where are they????????
But the added 2 player mode works well, even though it's a tad simplistic, get the flag.
Overall, a good game, a bit short but good none the less.
I give it 8 out of 10.
If it was longer i'd give it a 9.

(Review of Sonic Dead-Zone by Pelord)
After the fall of the beloved (?) Eggman, it seems that Sonic and Shadow have nothing better to do then be obsessed with being more powerful then the other. It doesn't make sense when compared to the story in Sonic Adventure 2, but it still makes for a strange game.
The graphics, as usual, are taken from previous Sonic games.
The sprites for Sonic and Shadow are custom made, but they fit quite well with the older Genesis/MegaDrive graphics.
My only problem here was with Sonic's first level, in which it was hard to tell exactly where it was safe to stand.
The sound is beyond average, using remixes of existing Sonic tunes, as well as sound clips from the Sonic Adventure games.
There are a few non-Sonic sounds used as well, but they fit quite well with the surroundings.
An overall good job in the sound category.
The gameplay isn't exactly stunning, but the gameplay that is there is quite good.
Most of the levels are basically straightforward, except for Sonic's last stage, where you have to find switches.
There are a few pieces of the gameplay that I didn't care for...
The first thing was that you had to use the mouse pointer to click on the menu options, as well as move on to the next stage after completing a level.
It's a feature that some people like, but I was never fond of it.
Another thing that I didn't like was the fact that most of the game involved bouncing off of springs.
Now the springs worked well most of the time, and they felt like actual springs in the Sonic games, but I felt there were just way too many of them.
I felt that the main challenge in the game was learning how to use the springs.
In between all the spring bouncing mayhem is classic Sonic, collecting rings, attacking enemies, and hitting a goal ring at the end.
All of those features are well done, including how your character reacts when they get hit (although it could of been slightly improved).
Sonic and Shadow are nearly the same in control, except for their "special" attack where they can take out enemies on the ground.
Shadows "dash" attack works good, but Sonic's roll attack is a bit jumpy and it got me stuck in the floor once.
Another thing that didn't make sense were the "final" bosses.
Shadow really doesn't have a boss at all, and Sonic's final boss is kind of confusing (I just ducked into a corner for a bit and then jumped at the boss and somehow won...).
Also, the 2-player mode wasn't much, it just involved collecting more rings then the other player and touching a flag.
Finally, the game could of been a bit longer, but it seems that many other games have that problem too.
This game is filled with interesting little bits and pieces that make it stand out, such as an intro, an options screen, and even a 2-player mode.
There are also passwords and "panic" keys in case you get stuck (it DOES happen) and you have to restart.
For some reason, this game felt a bit "incomplete"... it has conveyor belts that don't work, and the two different kinds of shields didn't seem to do anything but protect you from one hit.
The storyline of the game that is mentioned in the intros doesn't seem to fit with the game itself, either.
On the good side, personally if it wasn't for the fact that the installation program mentioned "ClickTeam", I wouldn't of guessed it was made with one of the click engines.
It is definatly a good example of how powerful a click program can be.
(Conclusion)
A very decent game for what is there... even though it felt incomplete in some areas.
A bit more completeness, a few more levels, a few different level variations, clearer final boss fights, and less spring jumping (not to mention fixes on a few bugs) would of resulted in a higher score.
The completeness thing is what is keeping me from giving it an 8.

(Review of Sonic Dead-Zone by Raven Hedgehog)
Overall, it's pretty good. The backgrounds and graphics and stuff are probably the best part.
Me, I'm more of a gameplay person than a graphics person as you probably know by now.
But otherwise, this game is pretty darn good! ^_^
(Graphics)
The graphics are awesome. The backgrounds are great, the sprites are great, everything's great!
The sprites aren't the best I've seen, but they're good.
Only thing that bugged me was that Shadow didn't have little white thingys coming out of his shoes when he 'skates.' Kinda got annoying -.-;;
The end boss graphics are very good.
I still can't beat that boss -_-;;
(Sound)
The sound is great too.TGF uses sounds from SA, Knuckles for Shadow, and well...
Sonic fer Sonic o_o;; Pretty good.
The jumping sound doesn't get annoying cause it isn't very loud. Very nice!^^
Only thing that got me confused was in one level, TGF had 'Open Your Heart' playing.
I relate that song with being 'super' or going 'super.' I think it was Sonic who had the stage...
He wasn't super.
Only thing I didn't like.
(Presentation)
Very good. The levels are a little short and there aren't many of them, but they're challenging.
I can't beat Sonic's last boss. The reasons?
1) You have no rings.
2) You get hit and you die.
3) There seems to be no weak spots.
Makes me mad -.-;;
Anyway, I got stuck in the walls a lot.
Mostly with Shadow.
When you get hit yer charrie does like a little somersault thingy and goes off to the side...
Sometimes your enemy hits you again and you die.
Doesn't seem fair.
Also, there are no check points...Evil...
Almost all the way through the stage and you die and you have to start from the beginning x.x;;
Anyway, otherwise, pretty good.
Shadow's slide-type-thingy-type-move comes in handy ^_~
(Gameplay)
Also very nice. The 'intro' is nice, where Sonic is running and stuff.
Goes with the music as he runs.
I liked how the words came up...
Anyway, where you pick where you wanna go.
There's an 'Options' part which has the sound test and player 1 and 2 controls.
When you do the sound test a little Sonic sprite starts playing...
He's playing the piano XD Anyway, when you hit 'Start' and put your mouse over the emerald, the charrie's picture pops up and their moves.
Very nice, in my opinion ^_^
(Conclusion)
Overall, pretty good.Gameplay could be much better.
Needs to fix the bugs and stuff...
Anyway, a must download, in my opinion.
Another good one from TGF!
Raven Hedgehog, signing off! ^_^
