(Story)
Legends have it that one day, a Mobian hero would gain super powers without the use of the chaos emeralds, powers made up of extreme rage burning inside them.
It is said they will collect 100 rings and fly up to battle a super villain who has empowered the emeralds, to decide the fate of the planet, with bashing into the villain as the only defense.
It is hoped that
day will never come.
The game starts after a battle between Sonic and Robotnik.
When Sonic gets back to the green hill zone where he was going to return the emeralds to the special zone, he saw a bomb which exploded before Sonic had time to react.
The emeralds went flying all over Mobius.
Now, with help from Tails, he must find them before Robotnik releases they are scattered all over Mobius.

(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by Crazy Mr. Leo)
There are many, MANY fan games that I've played that suffer from Klik-and-Play-itis.A disease that turns potentially good fan games into low scrolling, boring, and pathetically easy (or insanely hard) pieces of crap.
This game isn't even close to that.
Sonic the Fast revolution is, without a doubt one of the best games I have EVER played.
Fan game or otherwise. Wanna know the scary part?
It's made with Klik and Play..
However, playing this demo prooves very entertaining indeed.
Graphics: You wanna talk about GRAPHICS?
let me tell you about GRAPHICS!!
This game is chock full of GRAPHICS!
Beautiful ANIMATED BGS!
Varied floor tiles, and different colored rings per zone!
This is a fiendishly beautiful game!
oh ya... they're all HOMEMADE!!
Sound: Not bad... not bad at all...
Sonic comes equipped with all his classic sounds (none of the KnP ones when you pick up a ring) STFR also includes some new tunes to keep ya grovin.
Nice and Easy on the ears.
Gameplay: First off lets start with longevity.
how does 68 levels strike you?
Good?
I thought so.
And these aren't low grade one screen levels either, these are long and full acts each with more challenges then the last.. the gameplay is suprisingly good (yes, yes, I know sonic sticks to the walls but it's barely noticeable at all) This game is full of rings, spikes, and even breakable walls. The gameplay almost reminds me of Sonic 1 and the level set-up is absolutely great.
yes... there is a downside...
There are no badniks in the first few levels ...
Don't think that makes STFR a cakewalk, these levels are very challenging and difficult (yet not INSANELY difficult) to beat.
And if you're hungry for some S2, just click on the EXTRA FEATURES and play the best Bonus level I've ever seen in a fan game.
Whee!
Graphics fit well, Engine seems pretty bug-less (Despite a few collision hickups), Sound a music work well, The Rock Chase's pretty well done itself.
Overall Grade This is such an excellent game!
I wish EVERY amateur game make put half as much thought and effort into their games as Jamie did into this one!
Good Job!!
MY RATING: A+ (and in my opinion in the top 5 games on this site.)
Score: A+
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by Luke Owen and Chris Johnson)
First I would like to make the point that this game was made on klik and play.As you know if you have played one of the earlier sonic chaos games by Aytac Aksu the games dont scroll it just has lots of frames for 1 level but this dosnt!
The creator of this game has found out a way of making a KnP game scroll!
Graphics: The graphics are very good it has kind of a rendered feel to the game.
Its so detailed that in the water there is reflections.
Most of these levels are original and the level parts are made by the creator.
The Sonic sprite has a 3D effect to it but its jumping is a bit wonky.
There are also some 3D levels where you are on a snowboard and it is at a third person veiw behind him.
Overall Graphics: 9.5
Sound: The music fits nicely to the levels.
Sonic has the right sound effects for jumping, spinning and collecting rings.
Overall Sound: 8.5
Gameplay: WOW!
this game had around 55 levels with bonus levels including before Sonic got his super powers, a track and field race and a Eric Cartman level.
This game should keep you occupied for quite a while.
It took around an hour and a half to finish.
Overall Gameplay: 10
Overall Grade This game is a definate download and has a great chance of being one of the best games on this site.
It even beats most of Aytac Aksu's Sonic Chaos games.
This games well worthy of an A+
Score: A+
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by Mike O' Maim)
I'll be honest here. The developer of this game scares me a little.
Ok, maybe more than a little.
He has done things with Klick and Play that no mortal should be able to do.
This is not going to be a fun game to review, for the simple reason he's done some things that are so amazing I almost feel bad to point out the low points of the game.
So...before I start, I will point out that I'm looking at this not from a developers point of view, because some of the things done here go far beyond what I could accomplish, but from the view of a bog standard games player who doesn't care about how many lines of code something took.
Graphics: One area where the game undoubtidly shines is the graphics.
The level uses some carefully crafted original graphics and sprites that are possibly some of the best I've seen.
Definite thumbs up here!
Sound: Is....alright.
On the up....all the same old boring sounds are gone!
Rejoice!
On the down...the replacement sound effects arn't any better.
Still.
'Tis not too bad.
I've heard a lot worse.
Gameplay: Is good.
But not classic.
This is easily the best K&P game I have ever played...but thats all it is.
A K&P game.
Compaired to the likes of USC and upcoming games like Epoch or roboblast...its a bit hard to reccomend.
You can't run back, and certain elements of the engine don't feel smooth.
God I feel bad writing this, (I will hearby state again that this game pushes K&P WAY WAY WAY beyond what its supposed to do)
It has got some real up points.
The levels are good and plentiful.
There are several extras as well.
This game will keep you going for weeks.
And its fun as well.
Overall Grade As a developer, I bow to Jamie's greatness.
From a technical standpoint, this is the single most amazing thing I have ever played!
As a game, though, its still a bloody good game, with great artwork, loads of replayability and extras and, most importantly, its fun.
Not a classic, and I can't put my hand on my heart and say its better than USC or Mettrix, but I can still recommend it.
For gods sake don't give this guy MMF.
Us other developers would never get a look in. :)
Score: A
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by Thomas Swift "Swifthom")
I honour Jamie Bayley.Yes I do, Jamie Bailey.
If you ever here about this review then I hope you apreaciate it.
For Jamie Bailey has done miracles with this game.
Graphics: Their decent.
Sonic is brand new, a computerised version of him that I must say is sort of weird.
The other images are either from Sonic Games, Tomb Raider Games or home made.
Tails and Robotnik are from Sonic 2, Ithink.
Also the title screen homemade picture of Sonic looks neato.
Sound: The Music works.
Some of it sticks out more than others.
But they all work with the levels.
The samples are from Sonic Cd, Genesis games and South Park.
There are more I can't identify for the moment.
Gameplay: The game is jumpy.
Sonic's jump is off timed and his roll disrupts the gamplay when you bash down walls.
The gameplay fails in so many ways.
It does however have a difficulty curve from easy to hard, even though I found that the first level was difficult, "(Embarrising)" due to the gamplay problems with jumping.
Also you cannot go back on yourself meaning if you missed a ring thats it, goodbye ring.
Agghh.
The levels are set out well and so it's not just a siple run through involving ups and downs.
This unfortunately shows up the jumping problem.
The ring system works well and is a plus, except for the parts where you fall down ontop of them into pits.
Also if you come up from beneath a platform, unlike some games where you get stuck, you grind your way up through the platform by jumping and pressing up.
This although annoying is better than the version used in some games where you simpley are stuck with no chance of getting out.
Also their are some semi 3D stages where you are running towards the background like the Sonic 2/3 speical stages.
In two of thes cases the idea is to collect rings and are prehaps the best bit's of the game.
Also the Robotnik boss is an outstanding boss that I must say I adore. This is however a long game.
There are twelve levels with 3 acts.
2 more levels with one act and then a boss.
It also has certain replay value of tying to locate the Large Rings that acces you to one of the 6 speical Stages and a hard mode for you to play.
Plus the game has 2 levels of an idea for a sequel which never took place, and 2 levels of an idea for a training level which never took place and 3 South Park stages.
This is a very long game.
So in short, a very long haul of what is only mediocre gamplay.
Presentation: Hmm.
Good presentation.
The levels vary from traditional Sonic like Emerald Hill and Death egg, to an alien party, to abandoned pyramid, to a haunted mountain to a Modern City.
The story looks good and the layout of the levels is superb.
A plus for presentation.
Also every level has a password, which is needed because of the length of the game.
Conclusion: So if the gamplay is this bad, why do I praise Jamie Bailey so much.
Simple.
The game was made in a primitive version of KnC.
If you have the version then you should be aware of the fact that their is no Scrolling.
None.
Most games like Sonic Chaos and such relied upon a Zeldaish principle, (Have you played Link's Awakening, you should know,)
where at the end of the screen you moved onto another.
No actual scrolling at all.
But Sonic the Fast Revalation has Scrolling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True.
It may be a very weird sort but it looks like a scrolling game on screen so it is scrolling.
As Jamie say's in the Credits: "This game proves there is life left in Klik & Play."
This is a deserving acheivement and from what I have scene of the sequel it looks good to.
Jamie keep up your good work.
MY RATING: 8/10
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by Pelord
Usually software developers update their programs because the previous versions are unable to keep up with the modern world. The creator of this game didn't think so.
This game takes an old dinosaur game making engine and squeezes everything it can out of it.
Graphics: The graphics are quite good, and are either from Sonic games, are custom made, or come from a graphics library.
(Although the credits say there are some Tomb Raider graphics in it too).
The custom made art is definately worth a look.
The Venga Party zone is quite interesting as everything changes colors constantly.
Sound: The sound is pure Sonic, using the classic sound effects and certain selections from various Sonic games.
There is even a theme from South Park in the game, which suprisingly fits the level it is used in.
Gameplay: Unfortunately, the actual gameplay, with all the different types of levels, could of been better, but of course, this is Klik N Play we are talking about.
The game engine itself is your worst enemy, as it can make the game more difficult then it actually is.
Speaking of actual enemies, there aren't very many of them, and they aren't much of a threat.
Your main threat is having the jumpy controls tossing you into a spike pit.
Also, because of the engine used, you can't backtrack.
As with most fangames, it's easy to get stuck in walls as well.
Most of the levels are the same type of level over and over, with just different graphics and enemies.
There are a few levels that are quite unique, such as the "3D" type levels, and the strange Zone 51, where the rings can hurt you (they are supposed to be "negative" rings.
Presentation: For an extremely limited game engine, this game has a lot to offer.
There are classic Sonic levels, special stage type levels, a Sky Chase type level, a cool Super Sonic level (in which the resemblence to the FinalHazard fight in SA2 is scary...), and a boss fight.
The game also contains hidden extras, not to mention a short, but fun, Cartman game.
The story of the game isn't that bad either... an explosion causes the Chaos Emeralds to be scattered over the planet, and Sonic has to find them (of course).
Unfortunately (to me anyway), the storyline follows a few guidelines based off the Sonic UK comic (such as Sonic being brown before he could run fast), but to say those hurt the game would be wrong, cause it doesn't.
The game has a password feature, which is almost required, not because the game is extremely long, but the game is known to crash every once in a while.
Speaking of length, the game is longer then most fangames.
Conclusion: I tried this game back when it first came out, and I didn't like it because of the engine.
I decided to give it a second chance, and I'm glad that I did.
If you can get used to the engine, this game can be fun, but the engine kills it a bit because it's the main reason for the only real problems with the game.
MY RATING: 7/10
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by Matty Hedgehog
The Fast Revelation is a game that was made in Klik and Play. But unlike most KN'P games this one FULLY scrolling.
I don't know how Jamie did it but it scrolls!!!
On with the review then.
Graphics: Sonic is from Sonic 2 with edited colours to give a sense of shading and to make him look cooler.
Tails the Tornado and Robotnik are also from sonic 2.
The backgrounds are from Tomb Raider Sonic and homemade as well.
One of my favourite levels is Venga Party Zone which has flashing lights on thing that KN'P couldn't do before.
Sound: Various sources for samples mostly Sonic games but I don't know where he got the ringloss noise.
I know that the other sounds are from KN'P libraries.
Not just Sonic music is played here, we're given South Park Mission Impossible and the Venga Boys as well for the various levels.
I'm still trying to figure out what Spirit Mountain's theme is.
Gameplay: Here's where the problem, the platforms are a little jumpy and Sonic's jump isn't quite on par with his other movements.
The pits of death are particuarly bad as if Sonic misses the platform he's skewered and it's a restart of the level.
One good feature of this game is that Sonic can now use his spin attack to knock down obstacles walls and badniks although the animation stops once a wall is crushed.
Presentation: Not just main game here, there's Cartman from South Park levels (a canned game I believe) training levels when Sonic didn't have his powers and a glimse of the sequels' levels.
These offer even more playability than previously thought.
Conclusion: A good game with some bugs but then there are still bits of KN'P that have trouble here so it isn't Jamie's fault.
I hope STFR 2 will be even better. .
MY RATING: 8/10
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by LP
This game is a very big game, with the added bonus of level passwords so you don't have to keep starting over, plus you can cheat if you have Klik and Play, by opening the game through it and entering the levels individually!!!Graphics: These are very good.
The shading is good and the Sonic sprite plus animation is good.
However, Sonic seems to run a little slow.
The backgrounds are sometimes animated and the sprites are taken all the way from Sonic 1 to sprites from a range of other non-Sonic games.
Sound: The music ranges from Sonic 1, 2, 3, 3D plus there's Venga Boys music (fits well with the level), that Freestyler song whatever it's called and Chef's song from South Park.
All the music goes great with the levels and the sounds are the orginal Sonic ones.
Presentation: Sonic is a bit awkward to control at times, a bit awkward to jump and the spin attack is unreliable.
But I suppose if this was perfect then the game would be easy.
The levels vary from easy to hard, the hardest ones actually been the beginning ones!
Conclusion: I like this game a lot.
It looks great and you always seem to find yourself going back to it to get past 'THAT' level.
I think it's good because it also includes secrets, unlike convential fangames which just stick to the basic levels and that's it.
This game realy does push Klik and Play to its limits which if you put it like that, is quite impressive!!
If it wasn't for the inability to manouvure Sonic, then this will get a 10.
As it stands, it gets a well earned 9!
MY RATING: 9/10
(Review of Sonic: The Fast Revelation by L Dog
Once again we have a good game from Jamie Baily. This game has over 40 levels.
Now that's a big game.
I recomend you take 10 minutes to download this game.
Graphics: The title screen has a nice sonic blue color to it with bright, white lights and sonic is hand drawn on the title screen.
Sonic's sprite is from either Sonic 1 or 2 with a nice shade to it.
The acts range from sonic 1, 2 levels & an 8-bit game gear sonic level that's been depixellated to 16-bit.
- I don't know how they did it.
- I love every aspects of the graphics of this game.
Sound: It's your usual Gensis Sonic jump, ring, dye sounds & music that's been remixed.
Also, it has Venga Boys music in the alien grave zone.
Gameplay: Its your typical Sonic gameplay.
You run through the levels collecting rings, killing badniks, fighting Robotnic, etc...
But like I said this game has over 40 levels, & hidden acts.
Presentation: The story starts where Sonic fought Robotnic on some island.
Sonic escapes and tries to return the chaos emeralds to Emerald Hill in the special zone.
He sees a bomb and it blows him away causing all the emeralds to scatter once again.
Conclusion: Sonic The Fast Revelation is not your average fangame.
Heck, it's above average.
The only thing I have a problem with is Sonic's sprite movement.
It should have been stabilized better.
When you jump & then walk he bounces a little though he's still playable.
That's the only con I have on this game.
Overall for everything else I would give this game a 10 but the sprite should be stabilized so I give it a 9.
MY RATING: 9/10
