When I decided to release my one act demo of the Sonic game, I realized that it was almost time for Christmas.
Thus, my present for you is two versions of the demo: This one, and the Christmas
edition.
They are the same basic level, with differences only in appearance, but you might want to snag them both to see where I changed things.
Besides, they both are small in file size anyway.
Basically, my goal with this game was to try and make a Sonic game that was as close to the original genesis games as possible.
I don't think I've seen a fan game yet that had that same spirit or style of the first games.
Of course, you might say that was true of THIS game, but still, this is the closest anyone has got, I think.
There are differences and any hardcore Sonic fan will notice them right away, but all in all, it isn't bad.
The biggest differences are: Sonic doesn't bounce off enemies when he jumps on them, Spikes kill instantly, and a few minor differences in how Sonic moves.
To try and reproduce the same look as the old games, I have taken most of the graphics from the first two Sonic games for genesis.
I dont think Sega will mind, considering neither of those games are still being made, meaning Sega is not making any money off of them anymore.
That means my game is not causing Sega to lose any money, but still, IF ANYONE AT SEGA HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS GAME, LET ME KNOW!
I love Sega, and I wouldn't want to anger them.
Anyway, both this and the other version contain the first act of the first zone (although the christmas version will not appear in the full version.)
Eventually, I hope to complete a six zone game, so keep an eye out for it.
