PLANET MOBIUS
12:41 PM
It was a warm summer day on Mobius.
The sun shimmered high above the clear blue sky, and the ocean waves crashed lightly against the sandy beach.
A blue-colored hedgehog was sitting in a patch of grass, leaning his head against a palm tree.
His eyes were shut, and he seemed to be enjoying the tranquil air.
He was Sonic, the super-fast hedgehog hero.
Everyone on the planet, both humans and animals, knew him, or had heard of him in some form or another.
Despite his short temper, Sonic had a strong love for freedom, and would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He'd usually be seen zooming across the hillside curled up in a ball, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
But today was different.
You see, Sonic had just returned from his most recent adventure, in which he had foiled the plans of his arch enemy, Doctor Robotnik.
That doctor was always looking for a way to take over Mobius and turn all the animals into his robot slaves.
But thankfully, Sonic and his best friend, a two-tailed fox named Miles Prower, were always there to stop Robotnik and save Mobius from complete conquest.
So anyway, Sonic, after defeating Robotnik once again, needed a well-deserved vacation.
Still feeling adventurous, he decided to leave his home city of Station Square for a while, and spend his vacation in a new place; the great Turquoise Islands, located far to the west of the main city.
Miles the Fox decided to vacation with Sonic.
Although, everyone prefers to call him "Tails" because of his two fluffy tails, which he can spin around like propellors to run fast or even fly.
Ever since Tails met Sonic, he has become much more educated, and prefers to spend time building all sorts of gadgets in his workshop.
But, as always, a peaceful vacation on Mobius is nearly impossible... not while Robotnik lurks in the shadows.
Sonic and Tails quickly notice that something's wrong; many of the natural animals of the Turquoise Islands have been morphed into killer robots called Badniks.
Definitely the work of that pesky evil genious...
So, it's up to you to help our heroes return to Station Square before Robotnik's Badnik army conquers it.
Watch out, though; Robotnik has many tricks up his sleeve, and he will do whatever he can to stop you from reaching the city.
If you haven't guessed already, Sonic Strife is a Sonic fangame, which I created over several years of procrastination and turkey sandwich consumption.
But unlike other Sonic fangames, I did not focus on creating fast, run-as-fast-as-you-can-to-the-end-of-the-stage levels.
Sonic Strife is more platform-oriented than traditional Sonic games, and focuses more on destroying Badniks and exploring large levels, filled with secret areas and multiple paths to the exit.
It took me a lot of hard work to create this game, and I hope you'll enjoy what it has to offer.
In addition to some familiar moves, each character can collect elemental powers in the game that will give them new attacks (if you've ever played Kirby's Dream Land, you'll have a good idea of what this is like).
There are 8 zones with 2 acts each, and if you search hard enough, you may even come across special stages where you can earn Chaos Emeralds.
Yep, you heard me; you can actually find and collect the seven legendary Chaos Emeralds (well, you only have to collect six; you'll find out why later in the game).
If you manage to complete all six special stages and collect the emeralds, you'll gain access to an awesome special attack and an extended ending when you complete the game.
